We have shown a consistent reduction in kilogrammes of CO2 produced per tonne of production output in the period 2003-2005. From 2003 to the first half of 2005, the equivalent energy consumed per tonne of production output (excluding transport) reduced from 10.1 to 8.3 Kgs of CO2 per tonne – an 18% reduction in energy consumption.
The reduction in CO2 achieved across the Group’s manufacturing operations is equivalent to the CO2 consumption of almost 14,000 trees. The reduction in CO2 achieved across the Group’s logistics operations is equivalent to the CO2 consumption of almost 3,000 fully matured trees.
When combined, the total effect of reducing CO2 emissions by the Marshalls Group is the same as that which would be achieved by planting 17,000 trees.
