Marshalls employees are involved in various volunteering initiatives, from helping with a childrens’ reading scheme at a school in Halifax to dedicating over 100 hours of time to renovating the local Southowram Community Centre.
Marshalls has been involved with many charities, schools, hospitals, sports and social clubs, helping to transform Britain’s landcapes. In 2007, at the National Payroll Giving Awards, Marshalls was the UK winner of the Best Promotional Partnership with a Charity Award.
Supervised visits for school children and tailor made tours for college students are regularly organised at many of Marshalls’ sites throughout the UK including Halifax, Falkirk and Llay.
This year, Marshalls once again showed its commitment to developing young installers in the industry by sponsoring the Mancat Awards. The awards recognise achievement by young people in the areas of masonry and paving. Marshalls employees also mentor young people on enterprise programmes as well as providing opportunities for students to take on apprenticeships.
Marshalls strives to conserve natural habitats and to create additional areas of wildlife value wherever possible. Following on from 2007’s Wildlife Trusts’ Biodiversity Benchmark success, Marshalls went to receive the National Gold Award at the International Green Apple Awards 2007 for Environmental Best Practice.

During 2006 various Marshalls’ sites have been involved in a road safety initiative for schools. In total, over 2,500 high visibility tabards have been donated to infant and junior schools next to manufacturing sites in Halifax, Newport, Bleadon and Hambrook.
