Carbon Calculator

Discover how you could create a carbon neutral garden with Marshalls’ carbon calculator.

The carbon calculator will show you how many tonnes of CO2 are generated in the manufacture of your chosen hard landscaping – from raw material supply to delivery to your home. It then suggests how many trees you can plant to help offset the CO2 emissions of a new patio or drive, so you can balance your hard landscaping with soft planting – and aim towards creating a carbon-neutral oasis.

Calculate your Carbon

Calculations are based on a carbon offsetting average of 0.73 tons CO2 = 1 average sized tree with a lifespan of 99 years. The tree planting required for carbon offsetting is rounded up to the nearest tree.

The carbon calculator measures CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent) encapsulating all greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming and calculated using Life Cycle Assessment methodology from raw material origin to delivery of product(s) on site.

Offsetting

Marshalls is reviewing its carbon offsetting recommendations in line with DEFRA’s Consultation on establishing a voluntary Code of Best Practice for the provision of carbon offsetting to UK customers.

In the mean time, you can find out more about carbon offsetting at:

Climate Care
Climate Care supports DEFRA’s active involvement in the voluntary carbon market. If DEFRA provides government endorsement only for compliance based offsets, Climate Care will offer such offsets to customers alongside existing voluntary emission reductions.

Carbon Neutral Company
The CarbonNeutral Company offers offset projects that use both certified emission reductions (CERs) and verified emission reductions (VERs).

CO2Balance
Uses Voluntary Carbon Offsets. All its projects are fully additional, transparent and verified.

The Carbon Trust
The Carbon Trust can help organisations to navigate the offset market and advises to consider the purchase of only high quality offsets from verified projects that create truly additional emissions reductions.
